Our range of products is listed to the right below the photos. The majority of orders are for fencing materials. We also sell backs and logs for firewood, and peelings and sawdust for animal husbandry.
Faced with massive reductions in commercial timber prices we decided to value-add and in 2001 we purchased a WoodMizer LT25 mobile sawmill. The sawmill was custom-built from home-grown and sawn timber in 2002. In 2004 we upgraded to a hydraulic LT40 model which greatly increases turn-around and reduces manual handling.
We saw timber left after harvesting operations as well as wind-blow and selected trees in the forest, mainly pine and spruce with some larch and occasional hardwoods. We saw to order for farmers, land-owners, builders and renovators.
All timber used and sold on the estate is FSC certified.
Forestry Stewardship Council
Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) is a certification system that provides international standard-setting trademark assurance and accreditation services to companies, organizations and communities interested in responsible forestry.
Selected cuts of old (>100 years) Scots pine and hardwoods are retained for cabinet-makers and wood-turners.
Since the outlawing of creosote and the phasing out of pressure treatment with CCA, we treat pine posts and boards with water-based Protek© in a suitably bunded tank.
